For the first time, quality solid stone granite has become affordable due to increased production worldwide and improvements in the milling process. Imagine 40 ton blocks of solid stone trucked from the mountains of Brazil to the port where it is loaded on steamships for a journey of over 10,000 miles to our warehouse.

The stone known as granite is formed by molten rock which cools and is under extreme pressure for thousands of years.  The resulting stone is very heavy, difficult to work with and transport.  In Brazil, the stone is mined into 40 ton blocks and trucked to the ports which are often 800 miles away.  The raw stone is then loaded on to steam ships and transported more than 10,000 miles.  The 40 ton blocks go through the milling process of cutting each block into 26” or 36” or 42” or 52” wide slabs. Each heavy slab is polished to a high luster and the bull nose edge is added.
